Weddings Getting married is one of the most special things that can come our way in life.  Having a Christian service can be a particularly special thing; it means vowing to love one another with the passion that God has for all of us, and having God’s blessing placed upon your marriage. St John’s and St Luke’s are both beautiful church buildings in which to get married.  St John’s is small, intimate, and has a country-ish setting.  St Luke’s big and grand, and is nearer the town, opposite the lovely Hilly Fields Park. There are certain rules surrounding eligibility to marry within a particular parish church. You are entitled to get married here at St John’s or St Luke’s if you live within our parish or attend worship regularly. You can find out which parish you live in by visiting the website https://www.achurchnearyou.com/ and entering your postcode into the search bar. There are also additional rules that can entitle you to get married in a particular parish church, including if: You were baptised or confirmed here You have lived within the parish at any time for at least 6 months You have habitually attended worship here at any time for at least 6 months or if one of your parents, at any point during your life: has lived in the parish at any time for at least 6 months; or has habitually attended worship here for at least 6 months or if one of your parents or grandparents was married here. If you wish to make further enquiries, the best way forward is for you to attend one of our services and introduce yourself to the clergy at the end. Alternatively, you can contact Peter, the Vicar, on 020 8363 6055, or email him at revpetergodden@outlook.com. In the meantime, the Church of England’s website www.yourchurchwedding.org is dedicated to all things wedding-related, which should include plenty of information that you may find useful
