Children and young people Twelfth Enfield (St John’s and St Luke’s) Scouts, Cubs and Beavers We have a long-standing sponsorship agreement with the extremely popular and well-run Twelfth Enfield Scout Group. The group has approximately 100 children divided into three sections - Beavers for ages 6 to 8, Cubs for ages 8 to 10½ and Scouts for ages 10½ to 14. It is based in a newly refurbished building within the parish in Stratton Avenue, EN2 9AF. The group parades in St Luke’s church on the first Sunday in each month during term time, helping with readings and prayers. Members also willingly volunteer for parish tasks such as gardening in the church grounds, making beds at the Night Shelter, running the barbecue at Parish fairs and delivering the church Christmas cards in the local area as part of their community activity. For further information, please contact the Group scout Leader on 0203 583 3580 or by e-mail at stratton12th@gmail.com Children and young people are very welcome at all of our services. Our All-Age service, Children’s Service and Junior Church are particularly enjoyable for young families: All-Age Service On the first Sunday of the month, we all gather in the morning for one service, at 10am, along with members from our Scouts, Cubs and Beavers. It is very similar to our usual parish Eucharist and still includes Holy Communion, but the service is slightly shorter, and includes a fun, interactive talk, aimed at engaging everyone, aged 5 to 95. Children’s Service On the second Sunday of the month, at St John’s, we have a Children’s Service at 9.30am. The service is aimed at children from babies up to around age 11. It lasts for about half an hour, and includes lots of noise, singing, and fun as we learn more about Jesus. Afterwards there are refreshments and time to run around when the sun is shining. Bubble Church On the first Sunday of the month, at St Luke’s we have our Bubble Church at 9.00am. Please join us at 8.45am for a croissant and coffee. The service is for babies, toddlers, children under 7. It lasts for about 30 minutes. There is lots of fun, singing and noise.
